8 Songs from 2020 to Consider For Your 2021 Wedding Playlist

If a song comes out and no one gets to dance to it, does it even exist?

The playlist for your wedding is sure to include a majority of songs from yesteryear. The requests for older music have more to do with the emotional attachment we have to songs we love during our teenage years than it does with keeping your older guest satisfied.

That being said, every wedding season introduces a few new songs that are either so good or so popular, that they end up becoming a staple for the dancefloor.

But what do we do with all the songs that didn't have their chance to shine? Unless a track can be a bonafide classic, its shelf life tends to be pretty short. On top of this, we tend to enjoy and bond to a song because we get to experience them with other people.

We decided that despite all this, it was worth digging through songs that would have been party pleasers and highlight ones we think can still carve out a moment for your wedding.

Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles

A smooth, fun song in which Harry Styles claims is about the warm feeling you experience when you first start dating someone. We know the truth...

Blinding lights by The Weeknd

If you were worried this song wouldn't get it's time to shine, don't be. This song will almost certainly be ringing in our ears for months to come after the 2021 Superbowl Halftime Show. With its danceable beat and energizing synths, I think it's safe to say it will get some spins at weddings this year as well.

Circles by Post Malone

This song was starting to pick up steam at the end of 2019 and probably had the potential to be a great closing song for wedding playlists this year.

Don't Start Now by Dua Lipa

Depending on the crowd, this song would have been a dance floor anthem.. or a great song to transition out of the cocktail hour.

Memories Maroon 5

We didn't hear this song at a wedding in 2020, but I can guarantee this will get requested as a nightcap and probably a few first dances.

Maren Morris - The Bones

A song about the importance of a sturdy relationship. This song was practically made at weddings and is sure to get some plays in 2021. I can see this song making a great first dance or a way to mix it up in the middle of your dance party.

Doja Cat

What's a Doja cat? No Clue! That being said, I just added this song to my cocktail hour playlist. With a beat you can feel and its' soothing vocals, it's perfect for coaxing some of the early adopters onto the dance floor.

Megan Thee Stallion - Savage

Girl Power with attitude. Mix that with a hard beat, and you have a dance floor rocker.
